VBS FAQ
What is VBS (Vacation Bible School)?
VBS is a fun, engaging, Bible-learning experience geared for children from age 3 (potty-trained) through 5th grade. It is a four night event with lessons and activities each evening to allow the children to dive deeper into a friendship with God.
What does a typical night at VBS look like?
A typical night at VBS begins with a Praise Party in the main sanctuary! Then the groups will be dismissed to begin rotating around the campus for their activities and stations that help solidify the lesson for the evening. From Reef Rec where the children get to play games, to Imagination Station where science is incorporated to allow hands-on learning, to Deep Dive Bible Adventures for our bible instruction, and Sticky Scripture to help the scripture for that night to stick with us. Let’s not forget about the fun snacks served at Tidal Treats! Each evening closes with a Fin-tastic Finale back in the main sanctuary where a time of worship and prayer ends our evening.
Will my child be with other kids their age during VBS or is it a mixed age grouping?
Our VBS structure is set up as a mixed age grouping. Older elementary children enjoy “helping” the younger elementary children in the group with more difficult tasks.
Will there be a meal or snack provided?
At Scuba VBS, we will be enjoying a snack each night. No meal will be provided.
What if I can’t attend each night? Will my child miss out on connected lessons?
While we would love for all children to be able to attend each evening, we know that life happens. Do not fear! Your child will not miss out on specific connected lessons and will be able to pick it all back up when they return the next evening.
Is this a safe environment for my child?
Purpose House takes all measures to ensure a safe environment for all children. We do background checks on all volunteers that work directly with the children. We have security and medical on site throughout VBS. We also practice our normal check-in process during VBS, so parents will be required to show their security tag when picking their children up each evening.
