BAPTISM

“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you’” (Matthew 28:18–20 NIV).

Baptism

We believe water baptism is the outward expression of our inward declaration that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Baptism is an important step of obedience that shows others we have personally trusted Jesus for our salvation. Jesus was baptized when He was on the Earth, and we do this to follow His example.  We are fully submerged to signify the death and burial of Jesus and raised out of the water to signify His resurrection. For us, water baptism is a public declaration that you are a follower of Jesus Christ, that you are beginning a changed life in Jesus Christ, and that you are part of a new family.

Those who are baptized are following Jesus’ example and obeying His command.
“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased’” (Matthew 3:16–17 NIV).

Absolutely yes. Your baptism should signify you becoming a follower of Jesus, beginning a changed life, and uniting with your new family of believers. If you were previously baptized and your baptism did not reflect this or if you have rededicated your life to Christ and would like to be baptized again, please complete and submit the baptism form below.

We believe children should have their own personal relationship with Jesus. Our kids’ programs and staff are geared towards encouraging kids to follow Him. Once they are ready, baptism is available to them. The book, “A Kid’s Guide to Baptism”, available here, is a good resource for parents who want to help prepare their children for baptism. A good way to determine if your child is ready, is to ask them when they decided to follow Jesus and accept Him in their hearts and what it means to be baptized. If they can understand the questions and answer accordingly, they are ready. If they need more time, that’s okay too – this can be a great family moment – take some time to work with them at home or ask for direction from our children’s pastor if needed.

At Purpose House, we offer child dedications for children/babies who are too young to understand and express their commitment to Christ. During this dedication, parents promise to raise their child in the faith. To request a child dedication, please click here.
